Mini Turkey Brugers

Mini Turkey Burgers

Burgers were never really my thing.  I guess because I am not a fan of beef I never really consumed a lot of hamburgers.  I do, however, love the mini version of just about anything and everything.  I also love turkey, I find it an excellent alternative to beef.  So, when I was rumaging through the freezer and found a pound of turkey in there I thought to myself ‘mini turkey burgers’ would be an amazing way to use this up.   I always use the same base recipe when I am make meatballs or burger patties, if you recall earlier this year I made Cheese Stuffed Turkey Meatballs, this is the recipe I use all the time.  It is simple and delicious.  If you wanted you could stuff your burger patties with cheese or just melt the cheese on top.  Stuffing the patties would be a little bit more work but it adds a lot of flavor and a different texture to your burger.  These mini burgers are perfect for parties as they are single servings which are not messy and easy to hold in one hand.  You might want to remember these mini burgers for the next super bowl party or New Years Eve party as they will be loved by everyone.

Mini Turkey Burgers

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 lb lean ground turkey

2 cloves of minced garlic

1/2 teaspoon each of oregano, thyme and basil

salt and pepper to taste

2 eggs, lightly beaten

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1/2 to 3/4 cup bread crumbs

1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

3-4 slices of Provolone cheese

To Prepare the Burgers

In a medium size bowl combine all the ingredients and mix thoroughly.

Form the meat into balls.  Then roll the balls in the palm of your hand, and flatten the patty.

Place the prepared patties on a plate and refrigerate until ready to use.

To Prepare

Over medium-high heat in a non-stick fry pan add the olive oil.  When the oil is hot add the burger patties and cook until browned on both sides and cooked through.  Add a slice of cheese to each burger and place under the broiler watching carefully as the cheese melts.  Remove from heat and serve on toasted mini ciabatta buns that have been toasted.

The appeal of these mini burgers is the pure simplicity of them.  You don’t even need any fancy toppings because the burgers are filled with so much flavor.
